Ginger Garlic Tilapia

(2 servings)

This delicious pan fried tilapia can be ready in less than 15 minutes.

2 tbsp mirin or rice wine
2 tbsp sodium reduced tamari or soy sauce
1 tbsp water
2 tsp finely minced fresh ginger
2 large cloves garlic, minced or pressed
a pinch of red pepper flakes
2 tsp sesame oil
2 tilapia fillets, about 6oz each
freshly cracked pepper

Combine the mirin, tamari, water, ginger, garlic and red pepper flakes. Set aside.

Heat the sesame oil in a non-stick skillet over a medium-high flame. Lightly dust both sides of the tilapia with freshly ground pepper. Don't use salt at this point because the tamari is salty; you can always add some at the table, if needed.

Fry the tilapia for about 3 minutes on each side until it flakes easily. Remove from skillet and place onto a dish. Cover loosely with foil to keep warm.

Turn down the flame to medium-low and add the sauce mixture. Using a wooden spoon scrape up any browned bits in the pan. Cook for about one minute or until the sauce is bubbling hot.

Spoon over the tilapia and serve.

I love fish, and I love it when bloggers post fish recipes, even though they don't get the attention that brownies and cheesecakes do...this one looks so flavorful, can't wait to try Gerlinde!
