Frozen Grapes with Sweetened Sour Cream

(about 4 servings)

Years ago a friend served this to me in Toronto, and I have been making it ever since. It's a very simple recipe and quite a wonderful surprise on a very hot day. The sweetened sour cream makes a nice contrast to the frozen and often slightly sour grapes.

1 1/2 lbs seedless grapes
1/4 cup sour cream
2 tbsp brown sugar

Wash the grapes and remove them from their stems. Place on towels to dry.

Once they are completely dry, freeze them for about an hour.

Combine the sour cream and sugar in a bowl large enough for the grapes. Stir until the sugar has dissolved. Add the frozen grapes and toss until they are evenly coated.

Serve immediately. Sprinkle with a small amount of brown sugar if desired.

I've been working on typing up my mother's recipes from a couple of notebooks she kept in her kitchen. Just completed one she had that is similar to your green grape and sour cream recipe above.

Green Grapes in Sour Cream

1 tsp lemon juice
¼ C honey
2 tbs cognac or Drambuie
1 pound green grapes
½ C sour cream
brown sugar to taste

Mix the lemon juice and honey and pour over the grapes. Refrigerate overnight. Four hours before serving pour sour cream over the grape mixture and sprinkle with brown sugar. Return to the refrigerator until ready to serve.

A little bit different but very close. Just thought you would be interested.
